Auxiliary Power Helmsmanship:
Docking & Systems Knowledge
If you have wished your blood pressure would not rise substantially every time you dock your boat or a boat that you have chartered, this one day course is exactly what the doctor ordered.

Beginning with basic diesel engine knowledge and nomenclature, the APH course goes on to cover inboard engine controls and safety procedure, the effect that prop wash has on a boat in forward and reverse, and proper methods of tying up and maneuvering a boat with warps and lines. After the theoretical section of the course you will be out in boats in the 30 40 foot range to conquer the docks for 4 to 5 hours, docking in head winds, tail winds, cross winds, bow in and stern in, covering as many different situations as possible.

This course gives you the chance to practice docking more times in one day than you may subsequently do in your entire sailing career. We feel this is an indispensable course for the experienced boater as well as for sailors moving up to auxiliary powered craft. What's more, this course can be linked to a two-day weekend cruising course to get you chartering and cruising in less time and with more confidence than you would have ever thought possible.
